Why am I unable to login using ArcGIS Online? [Approved Apps]

ArcGIS Online includes many security options that can restrict access to new applications like Geovonic. One example is the restriction only letting users sign in to applications that have been approved by an organisation administrator.

Diagnosis

If you are blocked from signing in to Geovonic Connect because to the Approved Apps restriction, you will see a message like this: –

Access to this application has been blocked. Please contact your administrator to allow access to this app

Your ArcGIS Online administrator can confirm the setting by going to Organization -> Settings -> Security -> Apps. It is likely that they will see that the “Members can only sign in to external apps that are approved” setting is enabled.

Resolution

Add Geovonic Connect to the Approved apps list.

  1. Click “Add approved app
  2. Enter the Geovonic Connect Client ID: bTTQ87sU3RCXvDrs
  3. Wait for the name “Geovonic Connect” to appear. Select it.
  4. Click Save

You should now be able to sign in to Geovonic.

 

Error messages: invalid-request, invalid_request, approved apps, blocked, allow access.
